Some of them recommended updating the bios or make sure the GPU wasn't daisy-chained as in one PCI-E 6+2-pin cable from the PSU split to the GPU. I started gaming over 4 days with the second cable and haven't had the issue re-occur at all. But according to Corsair Support, my PSU should be able to power the GPU from one cable regardless. Other users stated this as well. I assumed the reason for the second cable is the increased power draw at certain times that kept tripping my PSU's OCP like longjohn119 said. I went with connecting a second cable since it's the easier test.
Thank you all for your help!I think the issue can be resolved now. Connecting two separate PCI-E cables to card fixes it. Seems to be somewhat common with the 6800XT and 6900XT cards. I should have done a more general search about this issue in regards to my specs. The manuals for both parts don't explicitly state to use two cables.I think the issue can be resolved now.
I have a MSI RTX 2080 Super Seahawk X which is a hybrid water cooled card and I put a pair of Noctua fans in Push-Pull on the radiator and control the fan speed from the motherboard using a program called Fan Control which allows me to keep the temps low enough I always have a 1995 MHz or 2010 MHz (older games) boost clock so my card punches over it's "weight class" without having to destabilize games running a overclock. I believe a 6900XT is rated 300 watts but it can draw up to 400 Watts in short bursts which is the reason I suggested an FPS limitIt definitely pays to keep the temps as low as possible because the higher the temperature the lower your boost clock is. It keeps people for using a daisy chained power connection to their graphics card and once you start pulling over 250 watts it becomes a real problem. Thank you all for your Everyone gripes about Nvidia going to that new style 12 pin connector but this is the reason for doing that. Connecting two separate PCI-E cables to card fixes it.
